DETAILS: SKI SEASON POSITION This is a per-requested-need position with no guaranteed schedule.
Occasional travel to other sites to meet the needs of the clinic may be required.
Position Summary
The Paramedic provides safe and effective care for patient(s) within the scope of practice, in accordance with physician's orders, established standards and administrative policies, as part of the health care team. The Hospital Inpatient Paramedic functions under the direction of the hospital-based Medical Director, who will be the Paramedic Medical Director. The Medical Director will design the plan of care and determine the scope of practice for the Paramedic within the Acts Allowed specified by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. The health care team will decide the patient care interventions. The Paramedic will provide quality of care and service that adheres to the philosophy and objectives of Centura Health in order to meet the healthcare needs of patients and their families.
Minimum Education Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
Graduation from an accredited Paramedic Training Program, recognized by Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE).
Minimum Experience Requirements
Three years of experience as a Paramedic in an Emergency Department and/or emergency pre-hospital setting.
Demonstrated ability to function in a team environment
Strong communication skills; ability to read, write, and speak English
Computer skills
License / Certifications
Required: Current registered Paramedic with the State of Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment
(CDPHE) BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) from the American Heart Association
Position Duties
As directed by Medical Director and within scope of practice as determined by Medical Director, and upon completion of department training and competency validations:
Performs vital signs and documents in patient chart.
Administers oxygen and titrates per protocol.
Inserts Foley catheters.
Performs CPR.
Performs oral, endotracheal and tracheostomy suctioning.
Performs IV initiation and removal, including the External Jugular..
Performs initiation of crystalloid fluid via IV, and vitamin infusions.
Performs splinting and wound care including dressing changes.
Collects patient specimens which may include ABG, IV blood draws, nasal swabs, and point of care monitoring.
Performs suture/staple removal.
Administers medication.
Performs 12-Leads EKGs and monitors/interprets telemetry rhythms.
Inserts NG/OG tubes and monitors output.
Performs gastric lavage.
Maintains and monitors infusing blood products and chest tubes.
Assists physicians with the following skills: moderate/conscious sedation, central line insertions, lumbar punctures, defibrillation, cardioversion, chest tube insertion, thoracentesis, arterial lines, suturing and pelvic exams.
Accurately and timely documents all tasks, observations, and procedures performed on the patient record according to medical and legal standards. Maintains thorough and confidential maintenance of patient charts and records.
Utilizes SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, and Recommendation) for communication.
Uses standards of care, hospital policies/procedures and regulatory guidelines to guide work. Adheres to all State/Federal regulatory standards and all accreditation requirements.
Provides person-centered care with sensitivity and respect for the human experience in a collaborative fashion with other team members.
Assists care team in achieving patient and family goals.
Communicates with physician regarding patient/family observations in an ongoing fashion to assist in the treatment of patients.
Demonstrates effective use of clinical strategies to ensure patient and associate safety.
Collaborates with medicine, nursing and other health care professionals regarding plan of care, follow-up and evaluation for the patient and family.
Assists with quality improvement, safety and regulatory functions as directed. Participates in process change to improve practice.
Supports and represents the facility's Core Values while performing the role.
Consistently demonstrates flexibility as evidenced by floating to other areas and is agreeable to work flexible schedules including weekends, holidays, evening and night hours as necessary to meet the needs of the patients and department.
Attend meetings and in-services as required by departmental policy.
Assists in training other Paramedics, students and/or other hospital personnel.
Demonstrates effective time management and is proactive in prioritizing workload and meeting productivity requirements.
Adapts to rapidly changing technologies, policies, regulations, census and staffing through priority setting and flexibility.
Physical Requirements
Medium Work - exert/lift up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
